How do competitions work?
Twice a month, TELL announces that a competition will take place on a given theme. The announcement is posted on this page of our website, it is also sent by email newsletter, and we also post about it on our social media. So make sure you sign up to the newsletter and follow us on socials!
We have 2 types of competitions: TELL Originals and Creative Stories.
  • For TELL Originals, you'll be prompted to read and record one of our original stories
  • For Creative Stories, you'll be invited to narrate your own original story
All competitions come with their own guidelines but if you choose to participate, you'll end up recording a story directly into your profile on the TELL mobile app and sending us a link by email to
How do I submit a Narration
  • First, you'll need to download and install the app on your mobile device (follow the links at the bottom of this page)
  • Then, you simply create an account and follow Competition guidelines to narrate your story
  • Once the story is narrated, just click the "Share" button on the story summary screen or on the story listening screen and send it to us by email to ""
Can I submit more than one story?
For Narration Competitions, you can only submit one version of the story.
For Creative Story Competitions, yes, you can absolutely submit multiple stories as long as they are different from one another.
Can I participate in future Competitions if I've already won?
Yes! If you've already won a Competition, please feel free to participate in a future competition. It simply means we like your work and we'd love to hear more - your chances of winning again are high!
Can I submit a Narrated story that's already on my profile?
Yes, you can submit any story that on your TELL profile by sharing it with us as described above.
Who is eligible to enter the TELL Competitions?
TELL is a family-friendly app and Competitions are open to anyone of any age. If you're under 18, you'll have to have the consent of a parent or guardian over 18 to enter. TELL reserves the right to obtain proof of such consent and to refuse entry or to choose another winner if such proof, where requested, has not been given. If you're under 13, you'll need one of your parents or guardians to help you and submit using their account.
Please note that winners will need a bank or Paypal account to collect the prize money!

Can I submit stories under a pen name?
Yes. Stories are recorded through the TELL app and you can simply change the username associated with your account. For collecting your prize though, we'll need your real details and you will need a Paypal or bank account.
Is there an entry fee?
No. The TELL Narration Competitions are free!
What kind of stories can I submit?
Unless otherwise specified, the Narrations you submit must be between 5 and 20min long.
TELL is a family app, so we're looking for appropriate content that the whole family can enjoy!
Can I submit my story elsewhere after publishing it on TELL?
When you submit a story, you retain the copyright, but you grant TELL a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, publish, and otherwise use the entry on any platforms, in accordance with our Terms of Use.

After you submit your story, you may still publish the story elsewhere, but the publication must include:
Acknowledgment to TELL for providing the inspiration behind the story.
This acknowledgment should be in the form of a mention, and in the case of a digital publication, a “dofollow” link back to
